Hello and Welcome to the best month of the year! October is my favorite month. Not only is it my birthday month, but fall really begins to take shape, and people start getting into the holiday spirit. I’m starting to feel settled, starting to spend less on “new home” things, and starting to make plans for my new salary.

When I worked as a teacher, I got paid once a month. Now I’m in a new role, and I get biweekly pay. I’m looking forward to the illustrious three-paycheck month, something I’ve only heard about in legends. I think this will give me a jumpstart on the paying down the credit card bill I’ve amassed after moving. With that being said, as of October 3rd, 2020, my net worth is

-$3,517

That’s up a whopping $75 from last month. It’s hard for me to get excited about a $75 difference but I’m trying to relish the journey more these days. To me, that’s the definition of easier said than done, but I’m on my way. By the end of this month, I will be in the $2000s! We’re speaking all the things into existence.

Briana Francois is an aspiring producer, a public transportation advocate, and a laugher; some would call that a triple threat. She is passionate about many things. One of her biggest passions is representation in television. Briana believes that every person has a story, and that story is worth telling. She sees improving representation in television as a way of allowing marginalized people to see themselves as major characters in their own lives, not just side characters in the lives of others. By uplifting those in the margins, we ultimately become better citizens of the world. Briana is also passionate about ending the cycle of poverty through education. In 2018, she joined Teach for America and worked as a High School English and History teacher in rural Alabama. When she’s not working towards her career goals, Briana enjoys making goals in her planner, cooking new recipes, learning about managing money, and developing her own TV schedule to avoid binge watching.
